The book is a well written book and just hits the nail on the main issues facing Spain. The author Mr Werner, I am sure, is aware of the Spanish saying " Europe comienza en los Pirineos " ( Spain starts in the Pyrenees ). Spain could be a superb country not only to live but to work, have a business project and a project for life ( kids, etc..) but regrettably the political and economic establishment in most cases has much to be desired for the reasons outlined in the book mainly corruption, the lack of accountability in business and politics etc... I fear as a South African born and raised in Spain since 10 that the country will need a real Liberal revolution to change its ways and become more European-like.
It is not what it is the real (s)pain of Europe is a very interesting book, filled with detailed facts and anecdotes that the Author, a Dutch entrepreneur who has been living in Spain for the past 17 years, shares with the reader to make him aware of the economic and social situation that currently affects Spain, and therefore the European Union.
If you want to take a sneak peek of what is actually going on behind the curtains… You will devour this book and you will love it!
Inconvenient truths are tough to digest but that’s the starting point to change the system and the status quo!
Disruptive, compelling, witty, wise and filled with love for Spain this book aims at sharing a vision of "what is now” and "what might be” for this beautiful Country if only awareness were raised and Spaniards would step up and claim ownership of their story (instead of shrugging shoulders)...
For the sake of a better and more competitive Spain and for a stronger European Union!
I was very impressed with the details of this book. Vincent Werner shows his readers how the country of Spain has experienced many of the problems of countries who have high unemployment, young people under the age of 30 still living with their parents, and high rates of school dropouts. I found that many of the problems experienced in Spain are some of the same ones being experienced in the United States. One such problem is, no one wants to accept responsibility.

Vincent Werner speaks from experience as he has lived and worked in Spain for over 15 years in the banking industry. The real estate bubble that was experienced in the United States was very similar to the one in Spain.

I have rated this well thought-out book a solid 5 star rating. I look forward to reading more works by Vincent Werner in the future.

Very informative point of view of Spain and the culture. Loved the writing and first hand knowledge of the author. An excellent read on the subject at hand....Definitely worth the purchase for knowledge of the front line...
